For some deep, dark reason I appear to be a little shy in actually naming any of the artists or songs that I enjoy…and this is not changing today (I will work on it though). Today I just wanted to shout out a film and TV series that might appeal to music fans.
Yesterday – the premise of this film is that the main character is a struggling musician who has an accident and when he wakes up he is the only person on Earth who remembers The Beatles. This is an easy film to watch, it does not tax the brain too much, but it will make Beatles fans smile (and shed a little tear at one point perhaps…I did). The Beatles (and Simon and Garfunkel) were the sounds I inherited from my parents, the songs you love even when they are not cool. I recommend this film for those reasons.
The second music related entertainment I am recommending is the new version of High Fidelity. I am sticking my neck out a bit here because I have only watched four episodes so far, but from what I have seen this is a well written, very well acted and entertaining adaptation. One thing I like very much is that this version is NOT being snobby about the music, and they could be, it is set in a funky record shop after all. I think I might even get some new tunes out of it…gotta love websites that list the music used in film and on telly…Tunefind.com
It makes me want to watch the film again…
