So things are getting a bit weird, or maybe they have been weird for a while and I’m only just noticing? Either way it’s a bummer. So it was utterly joyful when Primal Scream – Loaded popped up on my iPod in the car and I suddenly remembered how much better I feel when loud and slightly rebellious music is playing.
It is at times like this I wish I had one of those super duper blogs in which I could embed videos, but I don’t, so linking to YouTube is the best I can do. Below is part one of my alphabetical End Of The World playlist.
Considering how difficult it was to narrow it down to just first 13 I suspect there may be more End Of The World playlists to follow. I could do ironic ones and dramatic ones and ones featured in films about apocalypses and silly ones and loud ones and chill out ones….the possibilities are endless…
- Aggrophobe – PINS (safest phobia to have?)
- Baby I don’t care – Transvision Vamp (Corona-fatigue already?!)
- Can I sleep in your brain – Ezra Furman (because we all need help with our self-care, even if we’re self-isolating)
- Dance Apocalyptic – Janelle Monae (must keep up the exercises)
- Extinction – Parquet Courts (hopefully not!)
- Filthy/Gorgeous – Scissor Sisters (I don’t care how gorgeous you are…wash your hands)
- Get it while you can – Janis Joplin (good advice at any time)
- Heck Fire – Mattiel (no excuse to start swearing now)
- The I can’t face the world today blues – Jim Bob (don’t need a virus for this to be true)
- Jump the fire – Melt yourself down (something about heat? Fevers? Melting? Nope…just like the song)
- Keep this place beautiful – Bricks + Mortar (housework still has to be done…sigh)
- Let’s go crazy – Prince and The Revolution (Go on then 🙂)
- Mah Na Mah Na – The Muppets (and this is where we end up…could be worse)
Part two tomorrow…hopefully…if I can decide on the next 13
I love this list. Something to bop to while I am at home. That Melt Yourself Down video is disturbing but the music is good. I didn’t listen to the last track though because I don’t want ear worm for the next month. Thank you for keeping up our morale.
Thank you. Totally understandable about the last track, but slightly cowardly too?
The only musicians I even recognize are Prince & The Muppets. Not sure what that says about me, aside from being old and square.
Nah, that just means there’s a whole world still left to explore musically should you ever feel like it 🙂
… I spoke too soon. Janis Joplin. Some names are big enough that even I have heard of them
Not sure how you’ll do on day two…might do an End Of The World Greatest Hits playlist, to cover all the bases.
